Daily Assignments

Three activities will be provided to you each day.  Please choose at least ONE activity to complete each day with your child along with the daily feelings journal.         

Monday 9-28   

  1. Sensory- Explore textures with slime, gak, play-doh, moon sand, oobleck and more!

  2. Question of the week- Do you like apples or bananas better? Ask a few people this question and listen to their responses. 

  3. Read-  Choose your favorite bed time story and ask an adult to read it to you before bed. 

Materials needed: children’s story book, sensory item (slime, gak, play-doh, moon sand, etc.)

Standards met: Engage in book-sharing experiences with purpose and understanding.  Engage in active play using gross-and-fine- motor skills, use strength and control to accomplish tasks. Use language for a variety of purposes. 

Tuesday 9-29

  1. Walk- enjoy a walk at a local park with an adult 

  2. Fine motor- Practice zipping your jacket or coat 

  3. Create-  Gather reusable items and create a 3D piece of art (paper towel rolls, bottle tops, empty boxes)

Materials needed: jacket or coat, reusable items(paper towel rolls, bottle tops, empty boxes)

Benchmarks met: Move with balance and control in a range of physical activities.  Show some initiative, self-direction, and independence in actions. Use eye-hand coordination to perform tasks. Visual arts: Investigate and participate in activities using visual arts and materials. 

tuesday

Wednesday 9-30

  1. Sing-  Sing 5 Green and Speckled Frogs

2. Sort-  Sort items by two sizes, small and big. 

3. Build-  Build a fort at home

Materials needed: device to access youtube, materials to sort (cups, shoes, soup cans, rocks), chairs and blankets or sheets to build a fort.

Benchmarks met:  Music: Begin to appreciate and participate in music activities. Use vocabulary that describes and compares length, height, weight, capacity, and size. Sort, order, compare and describe objects according to characteristics or attributes. Develop and use models to represent their ideas, observations, and explanations through approaches such as drawing, building, or modeling with clay.

Thursday 10-1

  1. Write- Practice writing your first and last name. 

  2. Pet rock-  Find a rock in your yard. Paint it to create a pet and give it a name!

  3. Read-  Choose your favorite book and have an adult read it to you. 

Materials needed: blank paper, pencil, rock, paint, paint brush, children’s story book

Benchmarks met: Use scribbles, letterlike forms, or letters/words to represent written language. Use writing and drawing tools with some control. Engage in book-sharing experiences with purpose and understanding. Visual arts: Investigate and participate in activities using visual arts materials.

Friday 10-2

  1. Dance- Play your favorite music and pause randomly. When music stops, you freeze!

  2. Count- Practice counting 1-10, then write the number 1 on paper. 

  3. Hop- Practice hopping on one foot for 5 hops, then try it with the other foot.

Materials needed: device to play music on, pencil, paper

Benchmarks met: Use scribbles, letterlike forms, or letters/words to represent written language. Use writing and drawing tools with some control. Verbally recite numbers 1 to 10. Follow rules and procedures when participating in group physical activities. Move with balance and control to accomplish tasks.
